A Hosford woman is behind bars accused of murdering her boyfriend Friday night during a domestic dispute.
Chairty Furr, 34, called the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office just after 7:30 p.m. shouting, “Please send somebody to my house, I just shot my boyfriend!”
Authorities were quickly on the scene at a home off SR 65 North in the Lowry Community behind the former Ora’s Restaurant.
When Dep. Cory Fletcher arrived, another man was on the ground in front of the residence trying to rescuscitate Cliff Sloat, administering chest compressions. Furr was reportedly stating, “He was being mean to me, I didn't mean to shoot him, I just wanted to shoot over his head and scare him, but I missed...I love that man.”
Sloat died at Calhoun-Liberty Hospital at 10:50.
Furr later told officials they had been drinking with friends, then an argument ensued after the friends left and Sloat accused her of seeing someone else. Furr said Sloat never touched her, but she grabbed a .22 caliber long rifle over .410 gauge shotgun lying in the yard and fired.
She is being held without bond.
