A Blountstown man has been charged with sexual battery with a deadly weapon after alleging raping a woman at knifepoint.
Mardreon “Muffy” Gatlin, 29, is being held without bond at the Calhoun County Jail.
According to the Blountstown Police Department, a woman told Ofc. Nick Keller Sept. 1 that she had spoke to a man she knew only as Muffin on Ward Road and the two decided to go back to her house and share a $20 piece of crack cocaine. She said Gatlin made an advance to her and she told him, “No.” She said he went to the bathroom, came out and brandished a knife. The woman said Gatlin put the knife to her neck and told her if she made a noise he would kill her grandfather who was sleeping in an adjacent room. The woman said she cooperated out of fear.
After the alleged sexual assault, the woman said Muffin left, stealing her bike. She also suspected he took her purse and cell phone that were missing.
A knife and condom were recovered from her bedroom.
She identified Gatlin from a photo lineup and he was brought in for questioning, denying he raped her, but stating he “messed up” leaving the condom behind.
