A Blountstown native died in a tragic accident in Jacksonville last week.
Laporsha Watson, 26, was reportedly walking along a stretch of I-95 in Jacksonville when she failed to cross a pedestrian walkway and opted to cross the busy interstate. Watson was killed when a police cruiser struck her.
The accident occurred last Monday when Lt. Jimmy Ricks of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was on his way to work at 6 a.m.
Watson’s large family back in Blountstown was devastated by the tragedy. Funeral services have been planned for Saturday at Blountstown Middle School at noon.
Laporsha leaves behind two children and a host of family and friends.
