Mrs. Joan E. (Lee) Tharpe Melvin, age 62, of Blountstown, FL, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012, in Blountstown.

Joan was born on March 10, 1950, in Port Saint Joe, FL, and had lived in Blountstown for the past 10 years, coming from Wewahitchka, FL. She was retired from the Jackson County School System as a nutritionist. Joan was a 1968 graduate of Port Saint Joe High School.

She was preceded in death by her father, John David Lee, Sr., and a son, Clifford John (Trey) Tharpe III.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Melvin, of Blountstown; her mother, Jeanette Lee, of Port Saint Joe; a son, Jeffery Wade Tharpe, of Grand Ridge, FL; a daughter, Laura Jill Bailey, and husband, Tim, of Clarksville, FL; a brother, John David Lee, Jr., and wife, Peggy, of Grand Ridge; a sister, Marieta Ann Simmons, and her husband, Paul, of Pensacola, FL; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 5, at 2:00 pm (CDT) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Glen Davis and Chaplain Gino Mayo officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery in Grand Ridge. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 5, from 1:00 pm (CDT) until service time at 2:00 pm at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.

All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (ph. 674-2266).
