The Tigers wrapped up basketball season Friday during the district playoffs with a loss to West Gadsden.

The week began with an exciting 55-37 win over Port St. Joe in the opening round of the district tournament hosted by BHS.

Leading scorers for BHS were Marquel Thomas and Jawon Mosley with 12 points a piece. Saad Farooqi and Larry Jackson came in with eight points, followed by Miah Jackson with six. Alex Wroblewski provided four points. Demetrius Simmons and Roosevelt Martin added two points each. Rontravius Brown chipped in one.

“We came out a little sluggish at the beginning,” says Coach Tony Davis. “That was mainly because we hadn’t played in a week and a half.

But in the second half, we settled down and played some good solid basketball.”

The Tigers went up against West Gadsden Friday night in the semi-finals. By the final buzzer, West Gadsden came out on top, 71-56.

Larry Jackson led BHS with 18 points, followed by Thomas with 11. Miah Jackson brought in 10. Mosley added eight. Farooqi had six and Brown had three.

“We played a hard fought game, we gave it all we had, but we were just over-matched,” says Coach Davis.

West Gadsden wound up beating South Walton to claim the district title and will likely go to the final four.

“We’re looking forward to next season,” says Coach Davis. “The guys will come back and work hard.”

The Tigers are losing six seniors - Larry Jackson, Jawon Mosley, Saad Farooqi, Miah Jackson, Marquel Thomas and Chris Davis. These guys will truly be missed!
