The holidays are upon us, making it a perfect time for a post-Christmas clean sweep. In the City of Blountstown, Amnesty Week has been set for Dec. 27 through Jan. 3.
Citizens can drag their old appliances and household junk to the edge of their property to be picked up free of charge by city crews. This complimentary service is offered quarterly by the city.
Eligible items include old furnishings, like couches and beds, bicycles, refrigerators, stoves and other appliances, and just general household junk.
However, certain items are NOT allowed. These include construction debris, chemicals, paints, primers, batteries and tires. There is typically a waste tire amnesty month during the year, so watch for that if you have old tires to dispose.
Yard debris, such as limbs, will be picked up on Monday as always.
