The BHS Tiger basketball team is off to a good start this season, opening with two big wins.

The Tigers traveled to Altha Nov. 22 and brought home a 68-63 win.

Leading scorers were Jawon Mosley and Saad Farooqi with 17 points a piece. Miah Jackson brought in 10 points.

“That was our first game with the football players,” Coach Tony Davis remarks. “It was a good win for us to be able to compete with Altha. They led pretty much the entire game, but we were real scrappy and we toughed out a win. Altha’s Kent Rogers, he literally dominated the game. We found a way to slow him down the second half, but he dominated the game.”

The Franklin County Seahawks came to town Monday and the Tigers sent them packing, 67-52.

Mosley led with 19 points, Dimitri Simmons followed with 10, and Farooqi added six. Bringing in four points a piece were Chris Davis, Larry Jackson, Alex Wroblewski, Miah Jackson, Ron Brown, and Anthony Jones. Contributing two points each were Kenya Baker, Javakial Brigham, Corin Peterson, and J.T. Brown. Jackson led in rebounds with eight. Mosley had four steals.

“That was a big win to set the tone at our first home game in the Tiger’s Den,” says Coach Davis. “The kids were full of energy, excited to be playing in front of their hometown.”

The Tigers travel to West Gadsden Friday, then Port St. Joe on Tuesday. They will be back at home Thursday, Dec. 8, to host Bozeman in a varsity only game at 7 p.m. The Tigers will travel to Liberty County on Friday, Dec. 9, with game time at 5:30 p.m. for JV, followed by varsity at 7.
