Two Liberty County trials ended in not guilty verdicts last week.
Juries were selected on Monday, Nov. 21, for both cases with Adrian Best’s trial heard on Tuesday.
Best was charged with aggravated assault back in June, along with possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office, William Garner, 34, told authorities Best had pointed a deer rifle at him a few weeks prior to the alleged incident when he was at the BP station, then he ran into him at the same store in June. Garner said he approached Best to ask why he had pulled the gun on him before. He alleged Best then reached into his truck, grabbed a double barreled shotgun and said, "I'll shoot you now, you don't know me." A witness confirmed Garner's story, leading to Best’s arrest. The drugs were reportedly found during a pat down search upon arrest. At the end of the one-day trial, the jury found Best not guilty on all charges.
On trial Wednesday was Melissa Finney, accused of being in possession of a controlled substance back in April. This trial also lasted only one day with the jury acquitting Finney of the charge.
