DERRELL (DERRY) PACKWOOD BOWDEN, JR.
Derrell Packwood Bowden, Jr. (Derry), age 54, of Clarksville, FL passed away Friday, November 11, 2016 in Panama City, FL. Derry was born on September 4, 1962 in Blountstown and had lived in Calhoun County all of his life. Derry was a 1980 graduate of Blountstown High School and was a member of the 1977 State Football Championship Team. He received a BS degree in Political Science from Florida State University in 1990. Derry was a legislative aid to Robert Trammell and a US aid to Representative Pete Peterson. Derry was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Altha Troop 136 where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He loved coaching the youth in baseball, football and softball where he touched the lives of many. Derry was an avid FSU football fan until the retirement of Coach Bobby Bowden. After this, his new motto became “Roll Tide”. He was a member of the Altha First Baptist Church. Derry was preceded in death by his parents, Derrell Packwood Bowden, Sr. and Patricia Kate (Smith) Bowden, brother, Scott Bennett Bowden.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 14, 2016 at 11:00 am (CST) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Allen Singley and Robert Trammell officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Memorial Cemetery in Blountstown. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 4:00 pm (CST) until 6:00 pm (CST) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL.

BHS Tiger’s Table November 17
Blountstown High School's Culinary Class, The Tiger's Table, will be serving it's third luncheon of the year on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 11am to 1pm in the culinary dining room on the BHS Campus. This will be our Thanksgiving meal and, with family's gathering together to celebrate the holidays, the theme for our meal is Thanksgiving at Gran's. The menu consists of dishes that are staples at my family's Thanksgiving meal.

New Scoreboards at Sam Atkins Park
Sam Atkins Park baseball diamonds recently got two new scoreboards for the Boys and Girls fields. The Calhoun County Commissioners, spearheaded by outgoing County Commissioner Lee Lee Brown, purchased the two electronic scoreboards for approximately $7,500.
