Mr. Wilhelmus Peter (Bill) VanHelden, 84, of Blountstown, FL, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014, in Panama City, FL.
Bill was born on January 24, 1930, in Vanrhein, Holland, and lived in Blountstown since 1997, coming from Long Island, NY. He was a retired travel agent with Mercury Travel and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving as a translator with the United States Army. Bill was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Breeze, of Blountstown; a son, William VanHelden, Jr., of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three daughters, Patty Toner of Ft. Lauderdale, Cheryl Henley of Ft. Lauderdale, and Kim Westerly of Massachusetts; two half-brothers, Appy VanHelden of Athens, GA, and Luke VanHelden of Denver, CO; two sisters, Henny Pappas of Ft. Lauderdale, and Astrid Krets of Amsterdam; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorialization will be by cremation. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (ph. 674-2266).
