A Hosford man lost his life and another was critically injured Wednesday morning in a single vehicle crash.
Joseph E. Rudd, Jr., 48, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, James A. King, Jr., 70, of Hosford was driving a 2003 Ford Ranger headed westbound on SR 20 in Liberty County around 9 a.m. The vehicle left the roadway and traveled onto the north shoulder. King over-corrected to the left and lost control. The truck rotated in a counterclockwise manner before crossing SR 20 to the south shoulder with the right side striking a ditch. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn onto it’s left side.
Rudd was the only passenger in the vehicle. King was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Both men were wearing their seatbelts.
The accident was investigated by Sgt. Aaron B. Stephens of the Florida Highway Patrol.
