Mrs. Helen Whitfield Danley, 74, of Blountstown, FL, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, in Blountstown.
Helen was born on May 29, 1940, in Leon County, FL, and had lived in Blountstown for over 50 years. She was a seamstress, caregiver, driver for the Calhoun County Transit System and was a Jack and Jill of all trades. Helen was a member of the Quick Pic Gang and a member of Gateway Baptist Church in Blountstown.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Walter L. and Mattie Lee (Locke) Whitfield; husband, James Dowling Danley; two brothers, Norman Whitfield and Rex Whitfield; two sisters, Hazel Whitfield and Simone Whitfield; and two step great-grandchildren, Ashton Merritt and Brittney Wendell.
Survivors include two sons, Cliff King and his wife, Carla, of Clarksville, FL, and Jerry Lamar King and his significant other, Debbie Hodges, of Marianna, FL; one daughter, Brenda Todd, and her significant other, Clarke Joyner, of Scotts Ferry, FL; 2 step-daughters, Dreama Peters and Dana Donley. both of Marianna, FL; two brothers, Ralph Whitfield and his wife, Olivia, of Bristol, FL, and Eddie Wayne Whitfield and his wife, Laquita, of Ashford, AL; one sister, Imogene Tolar, and her husband, Robert, of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 11, at 11:00 am (CDT) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger King officiating. Interment will follow in Nettle Ridge Cemetery in Blountstown. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 10, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm (CDT) at Peavy Funeral Home. Anyone wishing may make contributions to the Leukemia Foundation.
All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL.

NEWS ALERT: BPD Issues Auto Burglary Warning
The Blountstown Police Department is seeing an increase in auto burglaries in the neighborhood located behind Burger King. In the past two weeks the Blountstown Police Department has investigated three auto burglaries in the Southwestern part of the city. In each of these burglaries the vehicles were unlocked and there was no forced entry to any of the vehicles. I would like to remind and encourage everyone to lock their doors and remove any valuables from your vehicle to keep yourself from being a victim. Remember to practice T-L-C. Take Out Valuables, LOCK your vehicle, Close Windows and Sun/Moon roof. Anyone with any information regarding these offenses is encouraged to contact the Blountstown Police Department at 674-5987.

OBITUARY - Britt
Deborah E. Britt, 63, of Blountstown, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014, in Panama City, Florida.
Deborah was born in Brewton, Alabama, but lived most of her life in Blountstown. She was a graduate of Blountstown High School and later earned a master’s degree in psychology from Florida State University. Deborah was of the Baptist faith.
Deborah was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Franklin Britt, and her father, Horace J. Travis.
Survivors include her son, Jason Britt, and his wife, Lisa, of Blountstown; two grandchildren, Austin and Rafe; her mother, Mary E. Stewart, of Blountstown; two sisters, Terri Hebb of Marianna, Florida, and Mary Jo Stephens and her husband, Dewey, of Blountstown; and one nephew, Jeremy Hebb, and his wife, Sara.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 6, at Rivertown Community Church in Blountstown.
