Donald Eugene Jacobs, 63, of Bristol, Florida, passed away Friday, May 23, 2013.
Eugene was a carpenter and was a veteran serving in the United States Navy. He was a member of Lake Mystic Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Corba J. and Dorothy Inez (Bush) Jacobs; a granddaughter, Alayha Inez Jacobs; and a sister, Lavoris Kirkland.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Jean Jacobs, and her mother, Martha Jane Jacobs, both of Bristol; a grandchild, Brianna Nicole Jacobs; a brother, Thurman Jacobs, of Bristol; six sisters, Rosa Lee Short of Tallahassee, Florida, Marie Green of Bristol, Sadie Lee Davis and husband, Jerry, of Chocowinity, North Carolina, Lois Pitts and her husband, Billy, of Kinard, Florida, Joyce Barker of Bristol, and Loretta Flowers, also of Bristol.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. ET, Thursday, May 30, at Lake Mystic Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Chumley and Reverend Coy Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Mystic Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. ET, Wednesday, May 29, at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown.

NEWS ALERT: Four-year-old Drowns, Search Continues For Grandfather
Rescue workers from Calhoun, Liberty, Bay, Leon and Gulf counties are combing the Apalachicola River in search of a 63-year-old Bristol man. According to Calhoun County Sheriff Glenn Kimbrel, Eugene Jacobs was fishing off his houseboat yesterday afternoon with his four-year-old granddaughter. The pair did not return home when expected and family members went to the boat where they found fishing lines still out, but no sign of either of them. Authorities recovered the body of the little girl around dark last night about 250 yards from the houseboat. She died from an apparent drowning. Please keep the Jacobs family in your prayers.

Mrs. Barbara Ann (Williford) Hand, 74, of Altha, FL, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at her home in Altha.
Barbara was born on May 6, 1939, in the Alliance Community and had lived in Altha for most of her life. She worked for the Lehigh Furniture Company in Marianna for a number of years and was a caregiver for several years. Barbara was a member of the Altha Church of God.
Survivors include one son, Greg Williford, of Altha; four daughters, Terri Mathis of Panama City, Darlene Folsom and her husband, Larry, of Marianna, Gwen Ellis of Panama City, and Wanda Jackson of California; one brother, Michael Ray, and his wife, Dianne, of Summerville, SC; two sisters, Alene Whitehead of Altha, and Edwina Johnston and her husband, Wes, of Altha; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. William Armond (Bill) Ayers, Sr., 85, of Blountstown, FL, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, in Blountstown.
Bill was born on February 6, 1928, in Jackson County and had lived in Calhoun County for most of his life. He was a retired commercial and residential contractor and carpenter. During his many years, Bill constructed hundreds of homes and apartment buildings. He also worked on the Capital Building in Tallahassee, W.T. Neal Civic Center in Blountstown and the Jai Alai building in Chattahoochee. Bill gave numerous young men in our community their first jobs working in construction to earn money and build good character. Bill had a love for farming the land and watching it grow. He was a 1947 graduate of Blountstown High School and was a Veteran of WWII serving in the United States Navy. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blountstown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Ayers; son, Billy Ayers; brother, Herbert Spencer Ayers; and sister, Katherine Smith.
Survivors include one son, Spencer Ayers, and his wife, Pam, of Blountstown; one daughter, Cynthia Aultman, and her husband, Jimmy, of Blountstown; one brother, James M. Ayers, and his wife, Dot, of Blountstown; three sisters, Jessie Mae Price of Blountstown, Abbye Faurot and her husband, Billy, of Blountstown, and Carolyn Dykes of Morgan City, LA; four grandchildren, Cindy Golden and her husband, Grant, Derek Aultman and his wife, Danielle, Crystal McClellan and her husband, Todd, and Stephen Ayers; nine great-grandchildren, Britt, Lane, Kaylin, Kelsey, Alex, Kaydan, Alicia, Will and Gabe; and two great-great-grandchildren, Mason and Konnor.
