OBITUARY - Elliott
Mrs. Mary Hazel Elliott, age 67, of Blountstown, FL passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 at her home. Mary was born on March 8, 1945 in Two Egg, FL and had lived in Blountstown for past 6 years coming from Cocoa Beach, FL. She was a retired Medical Secretary and a member of Gateway Baptist Church in Blountstown. Mary started the bible study group at Chipola Manor in Blountstown, FL.
Survivors include her son, Rocky Marshall, and his wife, Pamela, of Blountstown; a brother, Dale Ream, and his wife, Ann, of Cocoa Beach, FL; sisters-in law, Ann Moulton and Maxine Strickland, both of Blountstown; two grandchildren, Heather Cottrell and Rebekah Marshall.
The funeral service will be held Friday, March 16, at 1 pm (CST) at Gateway Baptist Church with Reverend Roger King and Reverend David Odum officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation. The family will receive friends Friday, March 16, from 11 am until 12 pm (CST) at Peavy Funeral Home.
All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (ph. 674-2266).

OBITUARY - Cobb
Jared L. Cobb, 35, of Hosford, Florida, formerly of Spring Hill, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2012, in Hosford.
Jared was born May 7, 1976, to Garry O. and DeLores (Potts) Cobb of Spring Hill. He graduated from the Wyalusing Valley High School, a member of the class of 1995. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in August of 1996, served 14 months in Saudi Arabia, and was honorably discharged in August of 2000. After being discharged, he worked as a supervisor for Home Depot in Florida and, for the past three years, was a corrections officer for the Florida Department of Corrections.
Jared loved being with his boys, Gavin and Connor. He went to all their soccer and baseball games. He felt that being a “Dad” was his greatest achievement. He also enjoyed fishing on Lake Talquin and playing X-Box. Jared was a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints in Towanda, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Vaughn L. Potts; step-grandfather, Thomas P. Rossa; his aunt Bonnie Yarnes; and uncles, Floyd, Kenneth, and Francis Cobb.
Survivors include two sons, Gavin R. Cobb and Connor M. Cobb, of Tallahassee, Florida; parents, Garry and DeLores Cobb of Spring Hill; his brother, Vaughn, and Carolyn Cobb of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; grandmother, Maxine M. (Potts) Rossa, of Wyalusing; nieces, Alyssa Erin and Lauren Kaleigh Cobb, of Stroudsburg; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of caring friends and coworkers in Hosford and Bristol.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 15, at noon at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, with Bishop Daniel Buynak, L.D.S. Church, Towanda, Pennsylvania, presiding. Interment will be in the Rush Cemetery, Rush, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Graveside military services will be accorded by members of Wyalusing Post #534 American Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jared’s name to a charity of your choice.

Martha Stewart of Blountstown passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the age of 67.
Martha was born October 6, 1944, in Tallassee, Alabama, to the late Howard and Virginia Annie (Holley) Shellnut. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Nathan Shellnut. Martha was a homemaker.
She is survived by three sons, Kevin Shellnut of Wewahitchka, Florida, William Stewart and Andrew Stewart of Chicago, Illinois; a daughter, Mary Ann Lodwyck of Chicago; five grandchildren; three brothers, James Shellnut of Grovetown, Georgia, Robert Shellnut and Johnny Armstrong of Wewahitchka; and a sister, Reba Chance Gaskin of Wewahitchka.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, in the chapel at Adams Funeral Home.

NEWS ALERT: Two Hospitalized After Liberty County Crash

A single vehicle crash in Liberty County Sunday night sent two people to the hospital.
Michael Andrew Luke, 60, and Denise Pfeiffer Luke 50, both of Nashville, Georgia, were transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Michael Luke was behind the wheel of a 2003 Ford F150 traveling northbound on North Central Street approaching River Road in Bristol around 8:10 p.m. He reportedly failed to negotiate a curve at the intersection and the truck began rotating counter clockwise. The vehicle entered the north shoulder and the right side of the truck struck a utility pole.
Michael Luke was in critical condition and Denise Luke was in serious condition at the time of transport.
The accident was investigated by Trooper E.E. Hunt. The Liberty County Sheriff's Office, Liberty County EMS, and the Bristol Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Arlene Montford of Blountstown passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012, in Blountstown at the age of 91.
She was born September 4, 1920, in Alliance, Florida, to the late Mike and Ida (Sullivan) Wimberly. She managed Montford Café for six years and worked for Ramsey Piggly Wiggly for 23 years. She was a member of Blountstown First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.T. Montford.
She is survived by her sons, Harold Montford and his wife, Vicki, and James ‘Jim’ Montford, all of Blountstown; a daughter, Sherry Redd, and her husband, Johnny, of Altamonte Springs, Florida; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Alma Kirkland of Palatka, Florida; three step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and her caretaker, Pat Beck.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 11, in the Chapel at Adams Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Nettle Ridge Cemetery in Blountstown. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 10, at the funeral home.

NEWS ALERT: Jed Hiers Sentenced
Former C & L Bank President Jed Hiers was sentenced in federal court Thursday afternoon. Hiers, 50, of Bristol, received six months in federal prison, followed by three months of home confinement and three years of supervised release.
Hiers was convicted in November of conspiracy to commit bank fraud and nine counts of making false entries in bank records with the intent to deceive bank examiners.

More details are now available on a crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon in Clarksville.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Jesse C. McCroan, 20, of Port St. Joe, was behind the wheel of a 2004 Ford pickup traveling east on SR 20 around 1:30 p.m. McCroan reportedly attempted to pass another eastbound vehicle on the left and entered the shoulder of the road. McCroan steered right, overcorrected and collided with a ditch embankment near the Juniper Creek Wildlife Management Area. The truck went airborne and overturned, ejecting passenger Phillip J. McCroan, 24, of Port St. Joe. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Both the driver and passenger, who sources say are brothers, were transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
