Yvonne Sanders Dean of Hosford passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012, in Blountstown at the age of 83.
She was retired from Florida State Hospital where she worked as a practical nurse. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Olin and Era (Bullock) Sanders; and three brothers, Dewey, Buford, and Floyd Sanders.
Survivors include two sisters, Ada Mae Jarrell and her husband, Lavon, of Hosford, and Nancy Wilford and her husband, Jackie, of Tallahassee; a niece, Sandra Jarrell, of Hosford; a nephew, Sean Wilford, of Tallahassee; and special friends, Beverly Furches of Tallahassee and Betty Orama of Telogia.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. ET, Thursday, February 2, at Hosford Cemetery with Reverend Aaron ‘Buddy’ Elkins and Reverend Joshua Parker officiating.

OBITUARY - Schmidt
Mrs. Eva Gudrun Schmidt, born Christmas Eve, 1930, departed this world the morning of January 21, 2012, following a rich life full of adventure, travel, family and friends.
Eva was born in Västenede, Håsjö socken, Jämtland län, Sweden. She was the third of eight children born to Nils and Gunhild Lydén. She began her adventures early, leaving Sweden for the United States when she was 20 years old. After settling in Chicago, she worked as a dental technician and met her future husband, Arthur Schmidt, with whom she had three children, Linda, Peter, and Thomas. The family moved to Oregon in 1967, settling in Philomath in 1968.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Bosc, and her husband, Jeän Pierre, of California; two sons, Peter Schmidt of Blountstown, FL, and Thomas Schmidt and his wife, Susan, of Washington State; two grandsons, Ryan Schmidt and his wife, Amanda, of Alabama, and Pierre Bosc of California; three great-grandchildren, Derek, Katie and Cameron, all of Alabama; two brothers, Sture and Kalle, of Sweden; and one sister, Ingegerd, of Sweden.

Kenneth R. Evans, 74, of Christopher, IL, long time resident of Clarksville, FL, died at 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Evans was born on September 26, 1937 in Kaufman, TX the son of James Ebert and Lottie (McKee) Evans. He married the former Rosie Robey on August 11, 1956, and she survives. Kenneth was a retired farmer and a Vietnam War U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a deacon at Poplar Head Baptist Church in Clarskville, FL and enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and traveling.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Rosie Evans, Christopher, IL, two daughters, Beverly Diane (Mike) Lancaster, Dothan, AL, Ricki K. Gladys Bontrager Dewey of Covington, LA, 55 years of age, passed away on Thursday, Dec 15, 2011, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, LA.
Gladys was born in Canton, OH, to Annette Edenfield Bontrager of Blountstown, FL, and Orvill Bontrager of Tallahassee, FL. She will be forever remembered by her loving husband, William R. Dewey; her son, Jason Dewey (wife Jennifer), and grandson, Connor Dewey; as well as her sisters, Marti Coley and Stephanie Ryon, and brothers Steve Bontrager, David Bontrager, Wade Bontrager, and Scott Bontrager. She was also an adored aunt by her many loving nieces and nephews.
After receiving her Registered Nursing degree from Chipola College in Marianna, FL, Gladys served as a dedicated Director of Nursing at Metairie Healthcare in Metairie, LA. Because she was such an advocate for excellent patient care, Gladys was named the Louisiana Director of Nursing of the Year by the Louisiana Nursing Home Association in the fall of 2011.
Gladys was laid to rest in the presence of many family and friends in Restlawn Park Cemetary in Avondale, LA. She will be deeply missed by everyone.

He was born September 23, 1954 in Jacksonville, FL the son of Percy and Vivian Nydell. Jan was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and spent his career as a Executive Chef. He married Diana Lindsay on September 11, 1975.
Jan was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles Nydell.
He is survived by his wife, Diana, of Hamilton; his two sons, Mark of Death Valley, CA and Tim of Hamilton; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 21, at 11:00 am at the Grace Gospel Fellowship (on the corner of 2nd Street and Desmet in Hamilton) with Pastor Jerry Elwell officiating. John Michael Hemmings of Clarksville passed away Friday, January 6, 2012, in Blountstown at the age of 34.
John was a carpenter for Panhandle Construction and was of the Baptist faith. He once said that he had lived a great life, a life of ten men, and if he died tomorrow he was fine with that. He is now in heaven with his mother, Teresa Hemmings; son, Legend Hemmings; and his dear Uncle Pat.
He is survived by his fiancé, Regina Whitehead, of Clarksville; his sons, John Hemmings, Jr. and Sonny Hemmings; a daughter, Brittany Hemmings; his father, Ken Hemmings; and a brother, Mark Hemmings, all of Bushnell, Florida; a step-son, Christopher Whitehead, of Clarksville; his godparents, Nanna Nancy and Papa Rodney Keene; god brother, Roddy Keene and Melisa; and a god sister, Meagan Keene, all of Cottondale, Florida; special friends from Bushnell, Rick and Kim Morris; his grandmother-in-law, Geneva Pitts, of Blountstown; his mother and father-in-law, Sheila and Gerald McFarland; brothers-in-law, Roland Whitehead and Leann, Richard Whitehead and Jazmine, and Frankie Stone, all of Clarksville; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his fiancé, Regina Whitehead, of Clarksville; his sons, John Hemmings, Jr. and Sonny Hemmings; a daughter, Brittany Hemmings; his father, Ken Hemmings; and a brother, Mark Hemmings, all of Bushnell, Florida; a step-son, Christopher Whitehead, of Clarksville; his godparents, Nanna Nancy and Papa Rodney Keene; god brother, Roddy Keene and Melisa; and a god sister, Meagan Keene, all of Cottondale, Florida; special friends from Bushnell, Rick and Kim Morris; his grandmother-in-law, Geneva Pitts, of Blountstown; his mother and father-in-law, Sheila and Gerald McFarland; brothers-in-law, Roland Whitehead and Leann, Richard Whitehead and Jazmine, and Frankie Stone, all of Clarksville; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He always had a smile on his face and made everyone around him laugh. He would always help people in any way he could. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Yvonne Fowler of Blountstown passed away Monday, January 9, 2012, in Blountstown at the age of 74.
Yvonne was born in Blountstown March 23, 1937 to the late Lucious and Eldora (Padgett) Pelt. She was a homemaker and also worked at the sewing factory for several years. She was a member of Christian Home Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Damon Earl Fowler, of Blountstown; a brother, Doug Pelt, also of Blountstown; three sisters, Betty Morris of Tallahassee, Patricia Hooks of Blountstown, and Flora Klepser of Pensacola; a special niece, Regina Hooks, of Blountstown; and other nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 12, in the Chapel at Adams Funeral Home with Reverend Gene Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, at the funeral home.

Pauline B. Bozeman, 85, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, Georgia.
Pauline was born in Blountstown, Florida, to the late William Alfred and Mary Ida (Theus) Barfield. She worked diligently, side by side with her husband in the ministry for more than fifty years. She retired from the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles after seventeen years of loyal service as a title and lien processor.
She attended Harvest Chapel Pentecostal Holiness church in Tallahassee and was a dear loving, precious saint of God. Her family, glad that she is at home with Jesus Christ, will miss her. Thank God, her battles here are over, praise God! A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and aunt will be missed by all. A minister’s wife, serving God with all her heart, she loved many people and was known by all who knew her as a sweet, kind loving lady. She wanted everyone to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and be ready for His return.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Reverend Roy Randolph Bozeman; daughter, Peggy Ann Cheshire; granddaughter, Wendy Watson; parents, William Alfred and Mary Ida (Theus) Barfield; three brothers, Dowling Barfield, Lamar Barfield, and Wayne Barfield.
