Mr. Rudolph J. Rackley, age 88, of Altha, FL passed away Thursday, December, 29, 2011 in Blountstown. Rudolph was born on January 10, 1923 in Calhoun County and had lived here all of his life. He was a retired farmer, educator and coach of high school athletics in the AAU organization. Rudolph received his BS degree from the University of Florida majoring in Agriculture Education. He was widely known for his athleticism and his love with anything associated with the University of Florida. Rudolph was preceded in death by his parents, Jay W. Rackley and Floy Branton Rackley. He was a member of the Altha United Methodist Church in Altha.

Ruth Ray Howell of Blountstown passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011, at the age of 95.
Ruth was a lifelong resident of Blountstown and was a member of Blountstown First Baptist Church. She was founder of Calhoun-Liberty Abstract Company which she operated for seventy years. She was a graduate of Columbia County High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas C. and Mary (Peacock) Ray; her husband, Charlie Hix Howell; and a brother, Bill Ray.
Survivors include her son, Charles Ray Howell, of Blountstown; daughter, Nancy Mauldin; five grandchildren, Josh Mauldin, Lynn Walquist, Renee Jeppson, Sherri Shuler, and Ray Howell; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 31, in the Chapel at Adams Funeral Home with Reverend David Throckmorton officiating. Interment will follow in Boggs Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4:00- 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, at the funeral home.

Mr. Albert Sewell, 83, of Hosford, FL, passed away early Monday morning, December 19, 2011, in Blountstown, FL.
Albert was born on May 14, 1928, in Lake Wales, FL, and had lived in Liberty County for most of his life. He was retired heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Quincy.

Rocky E. Vickery, 76, of Calhoun County passed away peacefully Saturday, December 17, 2011, at his home after an extended illness.
He was born July 31, 1935, the son of the late Pansy Vickery McCormick. Mr. Vickery worked construction and then was self-employed in a pulp wood business. He retired as a farmer in 1998. He was a member of the Macedonia First Baptist Church of Blountstown and a member of the Calhoun County Farm Bureau, serving as a Board of Director for 36 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed Martin bird-watching, hunting, and fishing.
Mourning his passing are his devoted wife of 53 years, Glenda (Branton) Vickery of Blountstown; two daughters, Becky Vickery and Dr. Glenda Sue Vickery; and his much loved grandson, Branton Rocky Vickery, all of Blountstown; two brothers, Donald McCormick (the late Carissa) of Arcadia, FL and Freddy McCormick of Calhoun County; six sisters, Geraldine Kelley (Clyde), Jean Murphy (the late Buddy), Shirley Young, Jennifer Mears (Robert), Pam Kahle (James), and Margaret Barfield (Jack), all of Calhoun County; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 20, at 10 A.M. (CST) in the Macedonia First Baptist Church with the Reverend David Wood and David Pitts officiating. He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Hayes Lewis, and a nephew, Robert “Scooter” Lewis.
He is survived by his son, Timothy McCormick, of Bristol; two daughters, Shelly Poole and her husband, Jason, of Blountstown, and Kelly Cunningham and her husband, Mark, of Colquitt, Georgia; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Doobie Hayes and his wife, Kathy, of Bristol, and Bubba Hayes of Marianna, Florida; sisters, Jo Ann Hayes of Bristol; and several nieces and nephews and other extended family.
