What to do with Altha School has been debated for years. The old main building has been deemed unsuitable for students. Portable classrooms are unsafe during severe weather. What’s the difference between a sexual predator and a sexual offender? Plenty. Both have been convicted of sex crimes, but predators are described by Florida law as “repeat sexual offenders, sexual offenders who use physical violence, and sexual offenders who prey on children.” [Full Story »]

If you have noticed the gorgeous Bradford pear trees along Central Avenue East, you’ve admired the work of Keep Calhoun County Beautiful. About 12 years ago, KCCB planted trees outside the Extension Office, old courthouse, and new courthouse, resulting in the beauty you see today.
