Sara Jackson of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office began a new chapter in her life on June 30 by entering retirement. Sara worked as a Correctional Officer in the Jail from 1996 until her retirement last week. In addition, Sara worked with the Florida Department of Corrections.

The Marianna Area Runners Club (M.A.R.C.) and Sneads High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes hosted a 5K run/walk and 1 mile fun run Saturday at Three Rivers State Park in Sneads. Several members of the Calhoun Area Road Runners (CARR) Club competed and brought home awards.

Three Calhoun County teachers recently joined with other 5th grade history teachers from eleven school districts in the Panhandle of Florida for the 2009 Patriot Project Summer Institute held at the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium (PAEC) in Chipley, Florida June 9-12.
