The Class of 2009 is counting down to graduation day and over at Altha School, two students have been honored as top graduates.
Caitlyn Bruner has been named valedictorian of her senior class at Altha. The daughter of Ben and Teressa Bruner of Marianna, Caitlyn is setting her sights on a pharmaceutical career. “After I graduate, I plan to attend Chipola College to attain my associates degree,” she remarks. “I will then transfer to the University of Florida to pursue a degree in Pharmacy.” [Full Story »]

Boyd Announces Stimulus Funds For Calhoun County Schools

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Congressman Allen Boyd (D-North Florida) has announced that Calhoun County schools will receive $685,666 in federal funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which was recently signed into law with Congressman Boyd’s support. This federal funding is part of an investment of nearly $1.8 billion that was released to the State of Florida by the U.S. Department of Education this week. Calhoun County will use this funding to support teaching jobs and preserve needed programs at area schools. [Full Story »]
