The Blountstown Tigers improved their overall record to 2 wins and 3 losses with a hard fought 14-0 victory over Sneads Friday night. The game was a defensive battle with neither team able to mount much of an offense.

The Sneads Pirates came into the game with a 4-1 record lead by the state's leading rusher Tre Keys with over 900 yards in the five games. Keys had obviously not faced an aggressive and fast defensive as the Tigers' possess. Keys ran the ball 28 times for 73 yards (2.6 yards per rush) while three other Sneads runningbacks were held to -5 yards on 10 attempts. With two pass completions for 39 yards the Pirates were limited to a meager 107 yards of offense.

After the Tigers had built a 14-0 halftime lead against a stubborn Sneads defense, head coach Greg Jordan challenged his team at halftime to come out in the second half and dominate the game with good blocking and a strong running game. The Tigers never scored again, but finished the game with 132 yards on the ground and maintained good field position and kept Sneads on their end of the field.

The Tigers’s first scoring drive started at the Sneads 45 and took 11 plays capped off by a 9 yard touchdown pass from Hunter Jordan to Roosevelt Martin.

A Patrick Pitts fumble recovery set up the Tigers’ second score starting from the Sneads 37. Javakiel Brigham had a big 13 yard run in the drive with Javon Mosley weaving his way from 15 yards out for the touchdown. Corin Peterson kicked both extra points for the 14-0 Tiger lead.

Late in the second quarter the Pirates reached the Tiger 26 yard line but a fourth down pass fell incomplete.

Brigham was leading rusher for the Tigers with 50 yards on 9 carries. Mosley finished with 35 yards on 15 carries while Jordan and Marquel Thomas each rushed for 19 yards.

Jordan completed only one of five passes for 9 yards to Martin for the touchdown.

Pitts led the defensive stand for the Tigers with 8 tackles followed by Bobby Andrews, Peterson, Anthony Williams and Jordan with 7 each. Brigham had 6 tackles followed by Anthony Curry, Chaz Fain and Austin Capps with 4 each. Chris Byne had 3 tackles.
