Liberty County authorities have arrested a man accused of stealing $250 in cash from a couple’s truck, then driving into the vehicle’s owner while fleeing the area.
James Amison, 37, has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and larceny under $300.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Dep. Gentry responded to a complaint from Bobby and Audrea Creamer who advised they were at a friend’s house in Sumatra dropping off a boat when they walked outside to find Amison reaching inside their truck. Bobby said he yelled to Amison who then jumped in his own truck and took off. A few minutes later, the Creamers were standing next to the road in an attempt to flag Amison down when Amison allegedly headed in their direction, sped up, swerved toward Bobby and struck him in the arm, causing him to flip three times in the ditch. Amison sped away and the Creamers headed to the Sheriff’s Office.
Bobby Creamer was treated and released from an area hospital.
