A four-month undercover meth investigation led by Altha Police Chief Jimmy Baggett has resulted in three arrests.

Amanda Tucker Hamlin, 23, has been charged with sale of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a a daycare and being a principal in the first degree. Robert Allen Scott is sale of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a a daycare. Gerald Williams is charged with being a principal in the first degree.

According to the affidavit in the case, an undercover officer met with a confidential informant back in April. The informant alleged Hamlin, Scott and Williams were cooking meth at a mobile home on Oak Street in Altha. The informant said Hamlin was seeking some Sudafed and later requested antacids. The informant took the undercover officer, who was using an alias, to the mobile home. Hamlin reportedly stated that Scott was on his way to get the meth. The undercover officer spoke with Williams and arranged to buy some meth in a few days when his tax refund was received.

Four days later, the undercover officer, still using the alias, returned and spoke with Williams who allegedly stated the meth was almost ready. Williams returned a few minutes later and reportedly said Scott was still cooking it and it would be done in 20 minutes. Scott and Williams were spotted walking from the trailer a short time later and gave the undercover officer a small container of meth.

Over three months later, the informant advised Scott was wanting money and would sell almost 1.5 grams of meth. Hamlin met the officer about an hour later, tossed the drugs at his vehicle, then the officer threw the money on the ground as instructed. The container of meth missed the open passenger window of the officer’s car and Hamlin reportedly told the undercover officer, “Get it yourself.” He retrieved the container from the roof of the vehicle while Hamlin got the cash off the ground. He watched in his mirror as she handed what appeared to be the cash to Scott as he stood nearby on a porch.

The trio were booked into the Calhoun County Jail last week.
