Mrs. Geraldine Martin, 85, of Altha, FL, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011, at her home in Altha.

Geraldine was born on October 28, 1925, in Masonville, NY, and had lived in Altha for most of her life. Geraldine taught high school math at Altha High School from 1947 until her retirement in 1982. After retirement, she worked as a substitute school teacher for 12 years. She graduated high school in 1942 from Sidney High School in Sidney, NY. A 1946 graduate of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, she received a Bachelors Degree in Education. Her major was in mathematics and minor in Commercial Subjects. Geraldine was a member of Altha First Baptist Church, serving as president of WMU for 10 years, Church Clerk, a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir. She was a member and officer with the Retired Educators Association and a past member of the Board of Directors for the Calhoun County Senior Citizens Association.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence Martin, of Altha; two sons, Steve Martin and his wife, Brenda, of Lynn Haven, FL and Wayne Martin of Blountstown, FL; a stepdaughter, Juddie Barrett, and her husband, Jim, of Durham, NH; three grandchildren, Colby Martin, Kaylei Cain and her husband, Sean, and Kendall Martin; and one great-grandchild, Aiden Cain.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 6, at 11 am (CDT) at the Altha First Baptist Church with Reverend Jim McIntosh officiating. Interment will follow in the Chipola Cemetery in Altha. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 5, from 6 until 8 pm (CDT) at Peavy Funeral Home.

All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (ph. 674-2266).
