Mr. Curtis Womble, Jr., 87, of Bristol, FL (Rock Bluff Community), passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011, in Tallahassee, FL.

Curtis was born on February 6, 1924, in Phoenix City, AL, and had lived in Liberty County for 40 years, coming from Sebring, FL. Curtis retired as park ranger at Torreya State Park in Liberty County with several years of service. He also retired from the United States Coast Guard with over 20 years of service, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Rock Bluff Assembly of God Church where he taught Sunday School and served on the Board of Directors. Curtis was a former lay minister and Sunday School teacher for the Church of the Nazarene. He truly loved the sea and nature's beauty at Torreya State Park.
Curtis was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Lee (Womble) Goldfine.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann (Bobbie) Womble, of the Rock Bluff Community; one daughter, Sandra Lee (Womble) Clark; one stepson, Paul Westberry, Sr., of Naples, FL; one brother, Leonard Womble, and his wife, Joy, of Sebring; several grandchildren, including two step grandsons, Paul Westberry, Jr. of Ocean Springs, MS, and Ryan Westberry of Naples, FL, six step-grandsons and one step-granddaughter; a double first cousin, Hershel Womble, and his wife, Jackie, of Groveland, FL; several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 9, at 2 pm (EDT) at the Rock Bluff Assembly of God Church with Reverend Richard Waterman and Reverend Mitchell Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Rock Bluff Cemetery with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 9, from 1 pm (EDT) until service time at 2 pm (EDT) at the Rock Bluff Assembly of God Church. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons Bible Society.

All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (ph. 674-2266).
