An Altha couple landed behind bars June 10 after a disturbance complaint led to the discovery of marijuana plants.
Olen Senterfitt III, 20, and Kaylan Leann Beauchamp, 19, have both been charged with manufacture of marijuana.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Dep. Bobby Sims and Altha Police Chief Jimmy Baggett responded to a home on Hanna Tower Road after a report of a man screaming and yelling at the residents. Beauchamp’s father was leaving as the officer’s arrived and said he had come to confront Senterfitt after hearing drug activity could be occurring in the home.
Authorities spoke with Beauchamp who granted permission for a search of the home. The officers immediately smelled marijuana and Beauchamp led them to a back bedroom where marijuana stems, seeds and shake were located.
Beauchamp said the marijuana belonged to someone who no longer resided there. On the way back through the house, the officers spotted an open bedroom where three large marijuana plants were growing. Fertilizer and grow lights were also found.
