Meth lab is busted
A routine house check for a man on probation landed him and his girlfriend behind bars.
Charles Andrew Hendrix, 45, and 
Elgine Anne Bergeron, 60, were arrested Friday on a warrant for trafficking in meth.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Dep. Gary McGhee assisted probation officers in conducting a standard home search on Hendrix’s Longleaf Road residence as part of his probation conditions. A “shake and bake” bottle of meth was cooking in plain sight.
Inv. Mark Mallory responded to the scene and joined Dep. McGhee in the search. They discovered a variety of items including lithium batteries, a marijuana smoking pipe, a small vial of meth, digital scales, and items used in the manufacture of meth.
The weight of the meth oil resulted in the couple being charged with trafficking over 28 grams. They were booked into the Calhoun County Jail.
