A Liberty County teen is in critical condition following an ATV accident Monday afternoon.
Clary Bateman, 14, was first taken to Calhoun-Liberty Hospital then rushed to Tallahassee Memorial following the two vehicle accident that occurred just after 4:30 p.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Bateman was on a 1997 Yamaha four-wheeler, headed westbound on Brinkley Lane near the intersection of SR 12. Sources say she turned to look back at a friend on another ATV and failed to stop at a stop sign. She drove onto SR 12 and into the side of a 1999 Ford Ranger driven by Carlton Smith, 23, of Bristol. Bateman was thrown from the ATV and sustained head trauma and multiple injuries.
