Calhoun Liberty Patriots Push For At-Large Voting

The Calhoun Liberty Patriots are doing their homework as they prepare to meet with the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners Oct. 19 to ask that the single member district voting method be changed back to at-large voting.

“We want folks to realize that they are being represented by 5 school board members and 5 county commissioners, all of which have a direct bearing on their lives, and they only get to have a voice in the selection of TWO of those people,” says Jim Pruette, who heads the local Patriot group.

The Patriots, vowing to pursue at-large voting “by using whatever legal and moral options” are available to them, will be at the County Commission meeting set for Oct. 19, at 5 p.m. in the Extension Ofc.
