Mr. Leroy Hood, 81, of Bear Creek, FL, passed from this earthly life to his Heavenly home on Friday, July 3, 2009.

Born to Robert and Lucy Hood on September 14, 1927, Leroy worked as a Stevadore, logger and forest ranger; however, most of his life was spent as a self-employed farmer. Leroy was a beloved member of Bear Creek Assembly of God Church.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Bonnie Hood; his mother and father, Robert and Lucy Hood; and one brother, Grady Hood.

He is survived by his children, Jerome (Pam) of Panama City, FL, Bill (Robbye) of Dublin, GA, Janet (Michael) Belcher of Mobile, AL, Patricia Everage, Maria (Ronald) Jackson, Mitchell (Monica Hagler), all of Panama City, FL, and Mike (Sheila) of Mayo, FL. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Other survivors are sisters, Evelyn Heath, Mary Nell Barnes, Helen Cobb, Myrtle Barnes, Edna Erickson, and Kathryn Reese, along with brothers, Jimmy, Jerry, Clayton, and Colan Hood, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 6, at the Bear Creek Assembly of God Church with Rev. Ray Johnson and Pastor Perry Dissmore officiating. Interment followed at Youngstown Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers were Chuck McGill, Mike Stewart, Josh Beard, Tim Hood, Shane Riley, Roberto Mendez, Chad Griffin and Marty Murdock. Honorary pallbearers were Ralph Via, Felix Gay, Rudolph Prows, James Lambert, Bill Hickman, Gary Paul, Clayton Hood, Colin Hood, Jerry Hood, Jimmy Hood, Gene Barnes, Billy Barnes, Bill Erickson, and James Head. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice or Bear Creek Assembly of God Church in memory of Leroy Hood.
